Build your space data center

Orbital Servers is a free space data center idle game with no installation or account.

Begin with a compute satellite, automate power, cooling, mining and research, then connect 8 projects to build a stellar data center. The game and this official guide are provided by LocalAI.

Start your first data center

  1. Call supplies. Collect funds and alloy in Control, then complete your next mission for more supplies.
  2. Prepare power and cooling. Build solar satellites and cooling panels to support more compute satellites.
  3. Add compute satellites. Sell compute to earn funds. Miners and labs collect alloy and research data.
  4. Continue research and projects. Research autonomous construction to unlock automatic construction. In Control, choose Off, Auto Build, or Auto Operate under Automation. After the first ground link and autonomous construction research, open the Coupang link to unlock automatic operations. No purchase is required. Automatic construction only requires autonomous construction research.
  5. Move to the next orbit. Keep your facilities and produce more power and compute. Connect 8 projects to unlock the ending.

What each facility does

FacilitiesRole
Solar satelliteProduces power from sunlight.
Cooling panelReleases heat from compute equipment into space.
Compute satelliteSells AI compute to earn funds.
Asteroid minerCollects alloy for construction.
Orbital labCollects data for new technology.
Assembly plantProcesses mined resources into more alloy.
Dyson collectorCollects abundant power near the Sun.
Quantum compute coreRuns AI models on a cosmic scale.

TF/s is fictional compute in this game. Facility values and production times are designed for gameplay and do not represent real data center performance.

8 projects to connect

  1. First ground link
  2. Earth communications network
  3. Distributed storage network
  4. Solar power belt
  5. Cryogenic compute network
  6. Stellar model training
  7. Interstellar replication network
  8. Space cloud for everyone

Complete 24 requests through 66 tasks across 8 projects. Labs analyze data, compute equipment runs calculations, and mining and assembly facilities build equipment. Allocate 15%, 35% or 65% of production to tasks; remaining science and alloy accumulate as resources. You can also contribute stored science and alloy to the current task. Completed tasks leave production bonuses, and request rewards add 1% production in your chosen field. Each project offers approaches with different workload, power and cooling demands. There are no fixed waits: facilities and research speed up work. The first connection is a small pilot. After the ending, finish requests, review records or reconnect using your existing infrastructure. Repeat challenges offer power, cooling or resource constraints with design core rewards. Level 3 permanent design research unlocks new operating modes. Redesign resets facilities, research, resources and missions, while retaining design cores, permanent design research, projects, requests and cumulative records.

Frequently asked questions

Which runs qualify for the completion ranking?

Only your first ending after completing all 8 projects from a fresh start qualifies. Repeat connection runs that retain facilities and research are excluded. Completion time includes accumulated offline progress. Your nickname and time become public when you submit.

Do I need to install anything or create an account?

Orbital Servers is a free browser game with no installation or account. Enable JavaScript to play.

How do I use automatic construction and operations?

In Control, choose Off, Auto Build, or Auto Operate under Automation. After the first ground link and autonomous construction research, open the Coupang link to unlock automatic operations. No purchase is required. Automatic construction only requires autonomous construction research.

Does production continue while I'm offline?

Production continues for up to 12 hours after your last save. On your next visit, production and resources spent by automation are calculated together.

Can I continue on another device?

Progress saves in this browser every 10 seconds. Use Download save and Import save in Settings to transfer it manually to another device.

How many orbits are there?

Connect ten orbits, from low Earth and geostationary orbit through the Sun and a stellar data center to the Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Complete projects and research, then save the travel cost to reach the next orbit. Your facilities remain, with increased power, computing and cooling bonuses.

What is the goal of the game?

Connect 8 projects to unlock the ending. Complete 66 tasks involving analysis, computation and assembly, and choose supplies for 24 requests. Infrastructure, research and resource allocation speed up real work without fixed waits. After the ending, finish requests, review records or start another connection challenge.

What happens when power or cooling is short?

A shortage reduces compute utilization and production. Add solar satellites and cooling panels or research their upgrades.
